INSIDE PLATO'S CAVE

Some Images from Inside Plato's Cave, University of Illinois Chicago Health in the Arts Gallery, 2005.  (Curator: Robert Kameczura)

Viewers encountered dream-like, shifting landscapes filled with soft renderings of charging bulls, galloping horses, noble bison and other animal and human spirits inspired by ancient rock paintings and artifacts.  These early beings interacted like the shadows cast on the wall and taken as reality in Plato's famous Allegory of the Cave.  The artwork summoned ancient apparitions; the images echoed in time.
